Donation of the Month

Does this look familiar? It might if you were an interior decorator during the 70s! Is it a large rubber ball? Is it a funny hat? Or is it a hanging lamp? Well, to be perfectly honest it seems to share qualities with both a rubber ball and lamp. The round shade of this lamp, on closer inspection, actually appeared to be small bits of rubbery material that had been glued together to create the effect seen here. Imagine the artistry! Well, it just goes to show you that even though you may decide to decorate your house in an unfortunate (or shall we say eclectic?) decade, your lamps, furniture, and decorative items may still find a reason to keep stayin' alive, stayin' alive when they find a new home with the client families that we serve!

This month's favorite donation gives us a chance to remind our donors that The Sharehouse is happy to receive large, small, table, and standing lamps that are in good, working order! We even take lampshades by themselves and lamps with no shades that can help us to even out our stock of items donated without one or the other! Please notice, however, that we cannot accept lamps that are in need of repair, or light fixtures that must be permanently attached to walls or furniture. Since all of the families that we serve live in rented housing, we try to only stock items that do not require permanent installation. Many thanks to the donor of the above donation, and thanks again to all of you who loyally support us with your donations every year! Please call (206) 767-5280 if you would like to schedule a pick up for your larger furniture items.

Each month the Sharehouse will profile an unbelievably odd or wonderful donation here on our website--keep checking back to catch the changes and to see what's new!
